Ben Wilson (basketball)

Ben Wilson was an American high school basketball player from Neal F. Simeon Vocational High School in Chicago, Illinois, who was regarded as the top high school player in the entire United States entering his senior season. He was the first player from Chicago to receive this honor.

Ben Wilson was one of three children born to Ben Wilson Sr. amp Mary Wilson and was raised in the Chatham neighborhood on Chicagos South Side. Mary Wilson, a registered nurse, had given birth to one son with another man, Wilsons older brother Curtis Glenn. Ben was Marys first son with her new husband, and she would give birth to Jeffrey and Anthony Wilson before she divorced Ben Sr. in 1974. After the divorce, Curtis Glenn took a larger role in raising his brother and young Benji grew to admire and desired to emulate his brother Curtis to certain degrees this proved problematic at times as Curtis would be forced to physically discipline his younger brother when he got out of line.
